The RMIT Global Cities Research Institute focuses on the Asia-Pacific region—the region in which Australia is located. We place a particular emphasis on specific cities, their hinterlands, and regional contexts. This is not to exclude other places of research, but to focus on these locales as the places where long-term research relations with universities, governments and NGOs is maintained, and a research data-base is being steadily accumulated.
