    Verzija na bosanskom

Research Site Manager: Mr Hariz Halilovich

Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has marked the beginning and the end of the last century, not only locally and regionally but also globally. In June 1914, a Serbian nationalist assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo and this incident escalated into the First World War. It was the first armed conflict on such a grand scale that took millions of lives and resulted in collapse of the three empires, Ottoman, Habsburg and Russian. This changed the map of modern Europe and has had wide social, political and cultural consequences up to this day.
